Insbesondere ihr Widerstand gegen Waffenlieferungen an die Ukraine st\u00f6\u00dft auf Unverst\u00e4ndnis. Wie reagieren FriedensaktivistInnen auf diese Herausforderungen? Diese Frage untersucht das Profilprojekt und befasst sich insbesondere mit den internen Diskursen und Deutungsk\u00e4mpfen zwischen friedenspolitischen Gruppen. Dabei gehen wir zum einen der Frage nach, welche Interpretationen von Konfliktursachen und Friedensstrategien in Bezug auf den aktuellen Ukrainekrieg diskutiert werden und inwiefern sich diese Interpretationsmuster von fr\u00fcheren Deutungen unterscheiden. Zweitens wird untersucht, inwiefern es zu Deutungskonflikten kommt in denen sich unterschiedliche Friedensgruppen mit verschiedenen Interpretationen und Ans\u00e4tzen gegen\u00fcberstehen.<\/p>\n<p>Das Profilprojekt nimmt eine umfangreiche empirische Untersuchung der gegenw\u00e4rtigen deutschen Friedensbewegung vor. In einem ersten Schritt f\u00fchren wir ein Mapping aller relevanten friedenspolitischen Gruppen, ihrer Kernziele und Aktivit\u00e4ten durch. Hierzu greifen wir auf verschiedene Quellen zur\u00fcck, darunter ExpertInneninterviews, Protestaufrufe und Protestereignisdatens\u00e4tze. In einem zweiten Schritt untersuchen wir die Diskurse und Deutungsmuster innerhalb der Friedensgruppen zum Ukrainekrieg im Detail, inklusive seiner Ver\u00e4nderungen \u00fcber Zeit. Diese Analyse basiert auf Framing-Ans\u00e4tzen der Bewegungsforschung sowie konzeptionelle \u00dcberlegungen aus der Friedens- und Konfliktforschung zu Frieden und Gewalt. F\u00fcr die Analyse werden alle zum Ukrainekrieg ver\u00f6ffentlichten Text- und Bilddokumente der ausgew\u00e4hlten Friedensgruppen gesammelt und analysiert sowie Interviews mit AktivistInnen einzelner Friedensgruppen gef\u00fchrt, um einen tieferen Einblick in die Deutungsmuster der jeweiligen Gruppierung zu erhalten. In einem dritten Schritt analysieren wir interne Differenzen zwischen verschiedenen Gruppen und Deutungsmustern. Wir planen dazu Fokusgruppeninterviews mit ReferentInnen und AktivistInnen aus verschiedenen Friedensorganisationen.<br \/>\nDas Projekt tr\u00e4gt einerseits zum j\u00fcngst wachsenden Interesse der Friedens- und Konfliktforschung an inner-gesellschaftlichen Konflikten in Europa bei. Dar\u00fcber hinaus leistet das Projekt einen konkreten Beitrag zum Verst\u00e4ndnis aktueller Deutungskonflikte um zentrale Begriffe der Friedens- und Konfliktforschung \u2013 insbesondere Frieden, Friedensstrategien und Gewalt. Gerade in der aktuellen Situation, in der existierende sicherheitspolitische Konzepte und Begriffe in Frage gestellt, hitzig diskutiert und neu gedacht werden, ist ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis davon, wie zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure Fragen des Friedens und der Legitimation von Gewalt verstehen, zentral. Nicht zuletzt tr\u00e4gt das Projekt zur Erforschung der gegenw\u00e4rtigen deutschen Friedensbewegung bei, zu der bisher wenig Forschungsergebnisse vorliegen. Unser Ziel ist, die Entwicklung der gegenw\u00e4rtigen deutschen Friedensbewegung besser zu verstehen, inklusive ihrer \u00f6ffentlichen Sichtbarkeit und (begrenzten) Mobilisierungserfolge.<\/p>\n<h2>Abstract<\/h2>\n<p>Peace activists are currently facing harsh criticism. In particular, their opposition to arms deliveries to Ukraine is met with incomprehension. How do peace activists react to these challenges? This is the question that the profile project investigates. It focuses in particular on the internal discourses and interpretive struggles between activist groups. First, we will examine the interpretations of conflict causes and peace strategies discussed in activist groups in relation to the current Ukrainian war and to what extent these patterns of interpretation differ from earlier understandings. Second, the project examines the extent and nature of conflicts of interpretations between different peace groups.<br \/>\nThe profile project undertakes a comprehensive empirical study of the contemporary German peace movement. In a first step, we conduct a mapping of all relevant peace groups, their core goals and activities. For this purpose, we draw on a variety of sources, including expert interviews, protest calls, and protest event datasets. In a second step, the discourses and interpretive frames that peace groups use to make sense of the Ukrainian war are analyzed in detail, including changes in interpretations over time. This analysis is based on framing approaches from social movement research as well as conceptualizations of peace and violence within peace and conflict studies. In order to gain deeper insight into the patterns of interpretation of the respective groups, we collect and analyze all text and image documents published on the Ukrainian war by the selected peace and conduct interviews with activists of individual peace groups. In a third step we analyze internal differences between different groups and patterns of interpretation. For this purpose, we plan to conduct focus group interviews with speakers and activists from different peace organizations.<br \/>\nThe project contributes, first, to the recently growing interest of peace and conflict research in intra-societal conflicts in Europe. Furthermore, the project makes a concrete contribution to the understanding of current conflicts of interpretation around central concepts of peace and conflict research &#8211; especially peace, peace strategies and violence. Especially in the current situation, in which existing security plans and concepts are questioned, heatedly discussed and rethought, it is crucial to get a better understanding of how civil society actors understand questions of peace and the legitimation of violence. Last but not least, the project contributes to the study of the contemporary German peace movement, on which little research has been available so far.
