The DSF sees itself as a “driver of the further development of the research field.” The foundation therefore primarily supports projects that are thematically and methodologically original. A connection to peace and conflict research is essential. Various guidelines are available to assist with the preparation of project proposals.
Project funding applications can be submitted from various academic disciplines or as interdisciplinary projects.
Within the framework of project funding, the foundation also supports international cooperation projects in peace and conflict research. The participation of a German partner institution is a prerequisite.
