The Ludwig Quidde Foundation (LQS), administered by the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF), was established in 2011. It originates from a private foundation created to commemorate the life and work of the German Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 1927, Ludwig Quidde. The dependent LQS, managed by the DSF, has an endowment capital of around 178,000 euros.
The purpose of the foundation is to promote research on the life and work of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate as well as to support projects in the field of peace and conflict research that are closely linked to Ludwig Quidde’s life goals – the safeguarding and development of peace and freedom.
One of the central tasks of the Ludwig Quidde Foundation is the awarding of the Ludwig Quidde Prize. In addition, within its means, it supports projects, conferences, and publications on topics of peace research and peace promotion.
Ludwig Quidde
Ludwig Quidde, born on March 23, 1858 in Bremen, was a German historian, pacifist, and politician who devoted his entire life to democracy, peace, and international understanding. In 1927, Quidde was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize together with the French pacifist Ferdinand Buisson.
