The German Foundation for Peace Research supports various project formats in three funding areas. The projects should focus on scientific projects with original, even exploratory, research questions. Applications for application-oriented components and research syntheses are also possible starting points.

Research projects at the DSF are open to original proposals that primarily open up new perspectives for peace and conflict research. The choice of topics in this area is open, offering researchers at different career levels and disciplines the opportunity to realize their ideas. The application deadlines for profile and pilot projects are May 2nd and November 1st of each year.

In funding area 2, new perspectives and collaborations in peace and conflict research are to be developed through (conference) projects. At the same time, the focus is primarily on international and interdisciplinary collaboration. However, knowledge transfer itself is also to be expanded and promoted in order to reach a broader audience in creative ways.

The DSF awards funding for a specific thematic research area. Relevant research questions are to be addressed from various disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.
