Silke Launert elected new Chair of the DSF Board of Trustees
At the most recent meeting of the Board of Trustees, the members of the board elected Dr. Silke Launert, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR), as the new Chair of the DSF Board of Trustees. The election took place as scheduled following the appointment of new members from the Federal Government and the German Bundestag.
Dr. Silke Launert has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 and has many years of parliamentary experience in the areas of law, family affairs, home affairs, and the budget. Since May 2025, the doctor of law has served as Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMFTR.
“The mission of the German Foundation for Peace Research—to promote and network scientific expertise and to ensure that research findings have an impact on policy and society—is more important than ever 25 years after its founding,” emphasizes Dr. Silke Launert. “I look forward to supporting the important work of the DSF as the new Chair of the Foundation Board.”
As the foundation’s highest governing body, the Board of Trustees determines the DSF’s fundamental direction and oversees the activities of the Executive Board. In accordance with the bylaws, the board comprises five representatives from the academic community, four from the Federal Government, and three from the German Bundestag.
