Zusammenfassung

Das Pilotprojekt untersucht, wie Klimaaktivist:innen auf polarisierte Klimainhalte emotional und neuronal reagieren und welche Bedeutung dies für demokratisches Engagement, Resilienz und mentale Gesundheit hat. Dazu werden Aktivist:innen und Nicht-Aktivist:innen verglichen, während sie neutrale/nicht-polarisierte und polarisierte Klimainhalte sehen. Ziel ist es zu verstehen, welche neuronalen Muster mit emotionaler Belastung, Emotionsregulation, langfristigem Engagement oder Rückzug aus Aktivismus zusammenhängen. Das Projekt ist an der Charité angesiedelt, läuft für ein Jahr und verbindet affektive Neurowissenschaft, Sozialpsychologie und Friedensforschung.

Abstract

The pilot project examines how climate activists emotionally and neurally respond to polarized climate content, and what this means for democratic engagement, resilience, and mental health. The study compares activists and non-activists while they are exposed to neutral/non-polarized, and polarized climate-related content. Its goal is to identify neural patterns linked to emotional stress, emotion regulation, sustained engagement, or withdrawal from activism. Based at Charité and running for one year, the project combines affective neuroscience, social psychology, and peace research.
