The quarterly peace studies journal “Wissenschaft und Frieden” (W&F) serves both to communicate academic research to the wider public and to foster debate and exchange within the field of peace and conflict studies. Thanks to the editorial team’s active efforts, the journal’s appeal and relevance to current debates have increased further in recent years. W&F must therefore be accessible to as many readers as possible, quickly and easily.

In addition to the traditional print format, the journal has also been available in ePub and PDF formats for almost 15 years. To cater to modern research and reading habits, the aim is now to integrate the journal into an eLibrary with IP-based access. Specialist bookshops and libraries have frequently requested such access in the past – and it is now finally being made possible. In this way, the journal is adapting to the demands of modern academic communication and setting the course for its future.

Following the modernisation of the journal’s website (2021–2022) and the adaptation of articles for mobile readability, digital access to the paginated versions of articles and the PDFs will now be made available, which will significantly improve the academic useability of the articles.

To this end, Wissenschaft und Frieden has entered into a publishing partnership with Nomos Verlag (Baden-Baden). The PDFs of the journal will now be made available on the new digital library platform ‘InLibra’ (formerly Nomos e-Library). Conversely, the DOI addresses of the articles will be incorporated into the journal’s own website. This creates an interlinking of access routes. In future, W&F articles will be discoverable via standard digital search engines as well as through libraries’ optimised search tools.

W&F will be available for digital order via the distribution channels of the publishers affiliated with “InLibra”, both as a standalone product and as part of a package with other journals for libraries. This also enhances the appeal of W&F subscriptions. Since January 2026, the journal has been available on InLibra and can be subscribed to via this platform.

W&F’s digital presence has now been brought into line with the modernisations and adjustments made to the internal structure of the print format. Thanks to funding from the DSF, W&F remains well-positioned to meet the research habits and knowledge transfer needs of the 21st century.

Die friedenswissenschaftliche Vierteljahreszeitschrift »Wissenschaft und Frieden« (W&F) dient sowohl der Wissenschaftskommunikation nach „außen“, als auch der Debatte und dem Austausch „innerhalb“ der Friedens- und Konfliktforschung. Durch die aktive Arbeit der Redaktion ist die Attraktivität und Debattenrelevanz der Zeitschrift in den vergangenen Jahren noch gesteigert worden. W&F muss daher schnell und unkompliziert für möglichst viele Leser*innen zugänglich sein.

Neben dem traditionellen Print-Format ist die Zeitschrift seit bald 15 Jahren auch im ePub und PDF-Format erhältlich. Für moderne Recherche- und Lesegewohnheiten wird nun eine Integration der Zeitschrift in eine eLibrary mit IP-basiertem Zugriff angestrebt. Vielfach hatten Fachbuchhandlungen und Bibliotheken einen solchen Zugriff in der Vergangenheit angefragt – nun wird er endlich ermöglicht. So passt sich die Zeitschrift den Aufgaben moderner Wissenschaftskommunikation an und stellt Weichen für ihre Zukunft.

Nach der Modernisierung des Homepage der Zeitschrift (2021-2022) und deren Anpassung auf mobile Lesbarkeit der Beiträge wird nun der digitale Zugriff auf die paginierten Fassungen von Beiträgen und die PDFs ermöglicht werden, was eine wesentlich bessere Zitierfähigkeit der Beiträge ermöglicht.
Wissenschaft und Frieden ist dazu eine Verlagskooperation mit dem Nomos Verlag (Baden-Baden) eingegangen. Auf der neuen digitalen Bibliotheksplattform „InLibra“ (vormals Nomos e-Library) werden nun die PDFs des Heftes eingestellt. Die DOI-Adressen der Artikel werden umgekehrt auf der eigenen Homepage der Zeitschrift eingepflegt. So entsteht ein Verzahnung der Zugriffswege. W&F-Artikel werden zukünftig durch die üblichen digitalen Suchmaschinen aber auch durch die optimierten Recherchetools der Bibliotheken auffindbar werden.

W&F wird über die Vertriebswege der in „InLibra“ verbundenen Verlage sowohl als Einzelprodukt als auch im Paket mit weiteren Zeitschriften für Bibliotheken digital bestellbar. Damit steigt auch die Attraktivität der Abonnements von W&F. Seit Januar 2026 ist die Zeitschrift auf InLibra zu finden und kann auf diese Weise abonniert werden.

So ist nun der digitale Auftritt von W&F den Modernisierungen und Anpassungen im Innenleben des Print-Formats angeglichen. Dank der Förderung der DSF bleibt W&F gut aufgestellt für die Recherchegewohnheiten und den Wissenschaftstransfer im 21. Jahrhundert.
